DO NOT USE RESPUBLICA

This is the worst "modern, high class" residency I have ever encountered. From the websites and tour of the residency, you would think that it is well maintained, well run, and efficient. This is definitely not the case.

I first app**** to stay at Urban Nest, I visited in January to view the rooms and they were doing construction in the site. Although it was an older building the single rooms were cheaper than any other single rooms at any other residencies, so I didn't mind. I signed up to stay there that day and was told the construction would be finished by the time I moved in during O-week at the end of January. I scheduled to move in on 25 Jan and the construction obviously was not completed and the chaos of all the students signing in was too much for the staff. We were all told we may have to be moved to other residencies for the next week or so, as some of the rooms were still being renovated. Once i was finally given a room, I had no water for 2 days and no Wifi. I decided to change to Hatfield Square as i had a car and needed parking space, and the parking area wasn't a parking area. It was storage for students luggage, machines for the construction and if you wanted to be let in, you had to go inside, tell the guard to open the gate. and then you would be let in. But why not just park outside?? WELL, when the students were called to attend a meeting, we were told to never walk though Arcadia at night, or visit the shop across the road, as we will get ******. We also shouldn't draw money at the ATM across the road, because we will get ******. So when it got dark I was always told to park my car in the gated area. When I app**** to move residencies, the manager at Urban Nest needed to process this and send my deposit to the Hatfield Square account. When i approached her and told her this is what she needed to do, she told me she didn't know how to do it. The manager. The manager of Urban Nest didn't know how to operate her own operating system. Many calls to higher ups and tears later, I was moved. The day i was told i could move, they weren't able to check me in, because of admin issues, and i hadn't been moved on the system yet. But some shortcuts were taken and I FINALLY got a room. I wan't able to access the WiFi for weeks because of the admin issues saying my account was in arrears, when it wasn't. My WiFi was sorted out the day before lockdown. Once lockdown was announced, I went back home to Randburg, because TUKS and Respublica said all students must go home, we were legally obliged to unless you were an international student and had a letter from the university. In these past 5 months i have not payed my rent, as my family cannot afford to spend an extra R6000 on a service we are not using, in a global pandemic. I received a call this morning, asking if i was moving out or staying at the res, as some of my belongings are still in my room. i was unable to fetch al my belongings before, because i was and am still not allowed on the residence campus without a letter from my university. I have been told that i order to go fetch my belongings i has to settle my account, which is over R28,000 in arrears. Oh, and they want me to return my keys. I beg you, do not support Respublica.
