Shockingly Poor Service – Unfair Claim Rejection & Sudden Cancellation by MyCar Repair Assist

I am deeply dissatisfied and shocked by the way MyCar Repair Assist handled my claim and membership. My first premium was paid on 25 November 2024, and when I submitted a legitimate claim, it was rejected with the explanation that the Battery Guru benefit only applies 12 months after the first successful debit.

They further stated that “not all debits were successful,” and therefore they decided to reinstate the waiting period — something that was never communicated to me, not in writing, not by phone, and not in the sign-up process. Instead of offering any assistance, clarification, or even giving me a chance to resolve the matter, they took the extreme step of cancelling my membership with immediate effect.

This experience raises serious concerns about transparency, reliability, and customer care within this company. I paid for a service that was supposed to support me in times of need, yet when I needed them most, I was met with rejection, unclear explanations, and abrupt termination.

No customer should be treated this way, and other consumers deserve to be aware of how MyCar Repair Assist handles claims and commitments. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend their service.

Dear HelloPeter.Com
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint and therefore provide greater clarity.
Summary:
1.        The client’s debits were not up to date and the plan was therefore not valid.
2.        Claims submitted were **********. Plan terminated.
Detail:
The client actually originally submitted a benefit access request on a non-covered component. The “invoice” looked suspicious and was issued by a Repair Workshop that we cannot physically locate.  After being informed of the claim rejection due to the component not being covered, the client contacted us and enquired about our battery cover. Shortly thereafter, he submitted a benefit access request relating to our Battery Guru benefit. A requirement is the supply of a report on the battery by a Battery Specialist. The battery “report” provided was not from a Battery Specialist, and was dated 01/06/2017. When informed of this, the client then submitted a battery report dated 29/11/2025, from First Battery.
Our standard protocol is to check and ensure that the client’s debits are up to date and that the product is therefore valid. Having done this, we initially established that the client had not maintained debit payments as required, and informed the client of this, and the fact that the battery benefit access request was therefore not approved.
We also informed the client that we had cancelled his membership of the MyCar Repair Assist plan product. As is standard industry practice, we reserve the right to terminate a client’s membership if we deem such client to be ********** or represent inordinate risk.
Further to this, we subsequently established that the client disputed the debit order on the 25th of September and the 25th October (meaning that these debits were unsuccessful), and issued a Stop Order for the debit of the 25th November, meaning that this debit was also unsuccessful. As a result of this action by the client, and as per our Terms and Conditions, the client’s membership was in any case automatically terminated, effectively by the client himself.
We trust this clarifies.
Please feel free to make contact with us should you require further clarity or proof.
