Rentokil - blood suckers

Hi We had a booking for multi pest fumigation with Rentokil for 08 Jan 2020 (Ref 305556) which included ****roaches and bed bugs. We were very particular about mentioning ****roaches and bedbugs to the agent who made the booking for us and he suggested that this is the best way to go. We were also told that the fumigation will take a bare minimum of 45 minutes to get done but mostly it takes about an hour. With such a big brand name as Rentokil, we decided that this was the way to go. Little did we know that Rentokil will be the one sucking our blood instead of the bed bugs! The guys came as per schedule and listened to us patiently about our ****roaches and bed bugs problem and additionally suggested that we get our flat fogged. Not wanting to argue with “the experts”, we decided to take the advise and subsequently book the foggers. The guys spent a measely 30 minutes in our flat to fumigate which raised alarm bells in my and my family’s heads but we again consoled ourselves that a big brand like Rentokil will not cut corners and provide us with the best possible solution. I am not even going to comment on what an extremely painful exercise it was to get a quote from Rentokil for the foggers which included me doing the internal coordination and speaking to different people to do their job and actually encouraging them to do their job so that I can get my flat fogged. Think people are really demotivated and bugged out to be working at Rentokil. Vanessa – from the Durban office was supposed to raise this matter and cc me on it but that didn’t happen either. So the fogging took place the next day in the evening and we were told to stay away for 3-4 hours – we decided to spend the night away from the flat so that we get maximum effect. We walk into the flat the next day (now 10 Jan 2020) and start unpacking our stuff to put back into cupboards ( don’t even get me started how my whole family worked extremely hard to meet all the guidelines provided to us for effective treatment which then turned out to be useless) and voila we saw a bed bug! And some ****roaches! We let it go thinking that its probably a once off thing so we terminated the pests ourselves and carried on with our lives. Until yesterday night! My wife and I bought a new mattress (we decided to throw the old one away to ensure that we eliminate possibility of bed bugs all together!) – And voila – we became a meal to a host of bed bugs! It has only been 12 days since the fumigation was done and we are still left with the pest problem that the so called experts and so called the brand Rentokil is supposed to take care of! I am now looking for a solution to this and wondering if Rentokil can actually live up to its brand and deliver on its mandate – or do I need to keep on bugging and pestering them to actually do their jobs effectively!

Dear Mr Modi

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.  I can understand how frustrating it must be to see live bedbugs after a service has been performed.

I have escalated this to the relevant branch manager, and he, in turn, has been in touch with you this morning regarding how we can rectify the situation.

2 of our Senior Supervisors will be visiting your premises this afternoon to establish the extent of the infestation and to do a re-treat of the area.

Kind regards,
