Excessive charges for Covid-19
We own a small Cape Town pizzeria where we have pest control contracts with Rentokil Initial. After receiving an e-mail from Rentokil Initial advising that it launched a new Specialist Disinfection Service in the fight against COVID-19 and with the expected re-opening of our business for delivered take-aways from 1 May, I requested a quote for my business and was quoted R4800 for RDS Spray of 100m2. On querying this I was advised that they had used 1000m2 in error but that they have a minimum charge of R1500. I fully appreciate that a minimum call out fee would be payable but the premium of over R500 on the reduced quote still amounts to **************** in my opinion, especially considering the business has had no income for over six weeks and expected turnover in weeks ahead is expected to be significantly lower than under normal trading conditions.
We understand that businesses are taking strain during the lockdown, having either had no - or reduced - income for the last 6 weeks. We too have been hit by lockdown, having not been able to service much of our portfolio.
However, our colleague well being is of the utmost importance to us, and we take health and safety extremely seriously. Our pricing reflects the importance we place on full, single-use PPE and RPE for all colleagues doing Disinfection Services. This is to ensure their safety, and the safety of your premise from cross infection.
