False Advertising

<p>OK, I planned a trip to Argentina and Uruguay several months back. I walked past Bayside mall's Bidvest bank, which clearly states 'We pay *** for Argentinian Peso NOTES'. I thought 'GREAT' I don't have to get rid of everything I have in Pesos before I leave.</p> <p>So, I get back, with about ZAR 1,100 in Pesos. Go to Bidvest bank ( my best bank next door, Capitec), The teller tells me she has to phone. No, they don't accept ARS notes. I stood outside until the exchange rate notice appeared on their screen again. I went back, to tell that they advertise this, and they must come look. They don't. They are very polite, but firm.</p> <p>So, back to the office. their website says exactly the same "We buy Notes" with Argentine Pesos second in line. So, I wrote a query to the Bidvest helpdesk - They said, that, yes, they will sell notes of ARS, but not buy.</p> <p>So, false advertising by Bidvest, that has financial implications for people.</p>
