Bad bank investigation

I logged a ********** transaction on my account which was investigated. The findings was that my card was compromised and that the bank is not liable for it. So if I am in Cape Town and the transaction happens in Johannesburg does that still leave me liable. This has not happened once but a few times over two months. The fact that I do not get a notification of the transaction also leaves me to believe that something is happening within the bank.
