Worn part not changed causing major damage.

Below is one of my last communiques with IC Auto Renault Kempton Park:

From: L Laatz
Sent: 18 January 2017 10:18 PM
To: 'Renault - Gavin Roos'
Subject: Renault Laguna
Importance: High

Good day Gavin

Firstly, concerning your current email to me, you say “The questioning of your current repairs to which we only replaced a cam belt as requested ,the failure of an accessory belt cannot be directed at IC Auto as we did not work on this item.” The cambelt and camshaft seals were changed. To say IC Auto did not work on the accessories belt is incorrect as it needed to be removed in order to change the cambelt and camshaft seals. From the 86 064 km service, IC Auto has been aware that a new Belt Tensioner Kit had to be fitted because you invoiced me for it at my car’s first visit to your workshop, yet at the 89 551km repair this belt was not brought to my attention when the ECU, camshaft pulley and camshaft seal were changed. Neither at the 89 551km repair when the crankshaft pulley, crankshaft seal and cambelt were changed. Neither at the 95 056km visit, nor the 113 108km repair. This belt was continually overlooked by IC Auto. According to the Haynes Renault Laguna Owners Workshop Manual there is a note on page 1A.7 that states that Renault recommends that the auxi****y belt be renewed whenever it is slackened or removed. Your mechanics tell me it must be changed at 90 000km. You further state “15/11/2016 @ 113 108 vehicle came in to have a cam belt fitted and seals. ( No replacement request for the accessory belt) I have questioned the technician who fitted the new cam belt and he claims the accessory belt was okay.” Yet when your technician, Aaron, inspected my vehicle at my home on Friday, 6th January he told me four times that the accessories/auxi****y belt was old!

You state” Regarding your mail mentioning further action I take it this is reference to the MIO ,we will then follow there guidelines regarding the complaint.” You misquote me. I stated “I request all your supporting documentation and an urgent meeting with you before I take matters further.” I said I will only take matters further after I have had a meeting with you. I have requested an urgent meeting with you face to face via email which you have refused to date. I phoned your office on Monday, 16 January 2017 at 11h44 and left a message at the desk for you to call me which you have not done to date. It seems quite obvious to me that IC Auto has no intension of trying to solve this amicably.

What do you suggest I do?

Regards

L Laatz

Because this worn and overdue belt was not changed it broke and resulted in my car bending valves and IC Auto Renault Kempton Park giving me an initial quote of R18,332.50. To date I have spent R25, 782.40 on a service and two repairs. Now they want me to pay to redo all these repairs and have the head and and valves repaired.
