Very exspensive bad service ....
I noticed that my car was Sluggish on the Tuesday 30 January 2018. The Idle of the car was not right. It was either too high ot too low. The car felt like it will break down , especially when I changed gears.
I took the car to the Renault workshop in Tokai on Thursday 01 February 2018 in the morning at about 07h45 AM.
I explained the issue to them and Christian advised that the car was due for a can belt service 90 000km service. Christian was also my point of contact.
They noticed the urgency of the issue and helped me. I was so great full for that. I left a positive review as they took me home while they were busy with the car.
They took the car in for a service. I was contacted during the day by ChristIan where he reported the service is complete and that there are 2 issues. 1st the throttle body needs to be replaced, which costs another R8090 and 2nd i need to replace the battery.
I explained that I will not be able to do the throttle body, because of financial reasons.
He said the car will be ready for collection by 16h00 PM.
As i got there, I paid R8400 for this service. Before I left with the car from the workshop. I told Christian that this car is still idling the same as when I brought it in this morning. He said its ok... I can drive it in this state. I told him that the car will break down on me... hé said it wont.
I then left the workshop and bought a new battery at the battery specialist in Wynburg for another R1065. The idle problem was still there.
As I tried to start the car the next day... IT still wouldn't idle properly. As I was driving it kept on cutting out when I did not keep the car on idle or accelerate.
The car starts, but it does not stay on idle. It dies. It does not stay on and the while dashboard lights up.
I said i can't drive like this and asked them to tell Christian that a person can get into a serious accident like this.
The car only seems to be washed....and it also seems the mechanical parts were not seen to.
I would like them to re-examine what they have done, because my car was not in such a state before the service compared to now.
This was a very disappointing experience.
I told them I don't want to take lawful action or go to the press yet. I would rather let us sort this out first.
I asked them to Please advise on how we can approach this situation...
I sent them this complaint and then they sent me the following response:
Good afternoon Mr Asvat
Thank you for your e-mail.
As you have mentioned in your e-mail, we have advised you on parts that need to be replaced. Once the part has been replaced then we can do further diagnoses. This was the findings we diagnosed when the vehicle was in for the service. I have also attached the invoice from the service where we have reported this to you.
Before we can carry out any further diagnoses on the vehicle, the throttle body would need to be replaced.
Please correspond with Christiaan if you would like to order this part as we cannot carry out any further repairs as you have mentioned until this part has been replaced.
Regards

I have been spending the little money I have left for public transport. I am not sure this is going to be easy for the rest of the month.
Kind regards
