Terrible fault diagnosis, pathetic customer service and extreme lack of communication
I would like to express my dissatisfaction and utter disappointment with the customer service at Group 1 Renault SA, particularly Group 1 Renault Stellenbosch Service Centre. I currently own a 2017 Renault Clio RS 200 EDC Cup and have owned it since March 2018. I have been driving with the vehicle issue free for over 8months. On 6th November 2018 I took my vehicle in for its 2nd service (20000kms) and I asked the Renault technician to check why my car is making this weird noise. The diagnosis I received for the car was that it was a shock mounting that is broken and a warranty claim needs to be submitted. A claim was submitted and I WAITED 22DAYS FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE. On the 28th November I then took my vehicle back to them to have the shock mounting replaced. The mounting was replaced and I then left. A few days later I started to hear the same sound again. I then called them to ask if they indeed replaced the mounting as I am hearing the same sound. I was then advised to bring the car in for a check-up. On the 10th of December I then took the car in for a check-up for the noise and my left front shock (damper) just suddenly started leaking. When I arrived, I was told the Renault technician was not there but the Nissan technician is there and can assist. While the car was outside, they checked the car and heard the sound again. They then took the car in to their service centre for a detailed look as to why it’s still making the noise. After about an hour or so the Nissan guy came to me and advises me that the Renault technician misdiagnosed the car as the suspension was loose hence why the car was making that noise. Now my issue with this is, how is it that a Nissan technician picks up and resolves an issue on a Renault where a Renault technician can’t even do that? This has hampered my confident in Renault Stellenbosch having the ability to resolve any future issues on any Renault. My 2nd issue is with the oil leaking shock. On the 10th of December when the Nissan technician confirmed that yes the shock is leaking oil. I was told that a warranty claim must be submitted to for this. I happily signed for it. A few days later i got a call from Group 1 Renault Stellenbosch saying that I need to bring in my car for pictures as Renault has asked for evidence to check for negligence. I mean why could they not have taken pictures on the 10th of December? On the 19th of December I then took my vehicle in for its pictures and I was told it will be submitted for the warranty. I would then call in every day to find out what’s happening with the warranty claim, is there any feedback. I would be told there is no feedback yet. Eventually I was told the warranty was approved and the service centre would need to order the part. Now here it the bombshell, UP UNTIL TODAY, MY CAR IS STILL NOT FIXED. Since the end of last year, after the warranty claim was approved, I would call Group 1 Renault Stellenbosch EVERYDAY and every day they would give me the same line, “We don’t know when the part will be in”. I got so gatvol, of calling the Renault receptionist for about a 2weeks, I eventually ask to have it escalated and I was passed on to the warranty clerk. For about 2 weeks I spoke to her with no luck. I even asked her if she can contact the supplier to find out where my part is. But nothing was done. On the 15th of January I asked the warranty clerk to have it escalated and I eventually spoke to the Service Parts Manager. He advised me that he doesn’t know why the parts are late but I should give him my details and he would look in to it and get back to me before the end of the day. I waited 2 days, and no feedback from him or any other Renault representative. I couldn’t anymore and on the 17th of January I went in to the Service Centre and wanted to speak to the Dealer Principle. I explained both issues to him and he gave me surety that he would escalate the issue as this is not acceptable. He advised he would give me feedback in 30mins, however it is 4 days later and still nothing. Today is the 22nd of January and I still have a leaking shock. Who would imagine buying a R300 000 car, in fact one of their best vehicles at the time and this is the level of service and quality of assistance one would receive. As a first time Renault owner, I am utterly disappointed at the service. Why must your clients keep on calling you to find out where things are in the process? Why can’t you keep us informed? In all of my years owning various vehicle brands, this is the WORST.
