STEP AWAY from the Renault Stepway
It seems futile to write a review in order to resolved anything since Renault does not respond to any reviews. At least let it help someone about to buy a car from making a mistake. We took the extended service plan, a must since you will need it if you do decide to buy this car, but get yourself ready for a fight. They will try to dodge and dive every claim, most of the time blatantly accuse the customer of wrongdoing. We bought the Stepway new in 2017, it has done 60'000km. and the following defects surfaced so far: Cluth Kit Left-back bearing Timing chain Aircon pump Power steering Some of the accusations ranged from "someone (referring to me?) tampered with the bearing". Really? I took the vehicle in for a tyre rotation, balancing and wheel alignment when they called me to take note that all the nuts on the left-back wheel were tight but the wheel had significant play and hence they can't do a wheel alignment. "You put too much km. on the vehicle". I bought the vehicle to drive it, not stand in my garage. "A major accident caused the Power steering to fail". They saw some overspray from a minor bumper bashing, but now all of a sudden it was a major accident and not just that, he went on to show me the "bad paint job" on the other fender that has never been resprayed (actually nocking his own companies spray job, what a nut) "You drove through deep water that caused the aircon pump to fail, because there are dirty mud marks on the inside of the bonnet". This was just after it came back from a service a week or two ago and when I asked him about that he says that they never wash the engine bay with power washers. Does that mean they never wash the engine bay at all? But take note, if it is dirty, they won't replace the aircon pump when it fails. My advice if you already possess a Renault, clean the engine bay and overspray before you take it in for mechanical defects or if you want to buy one, rather step away from the Stepway.
