Renault Underhanded Car sale
Underhanded sale I have experienced. I had repeatedly told the salesman -Christopher and his manager that I do not want the car that he first showed me because of the defects as I was buying a new car. I wanted a white car but because he said that white was out of stock he said they had silver cars in stock. I said again at that point I will only take a silver color if it is a new car and NOT the one he had shown me to which he confirmed there was stock of new silver cars. I even spoke to his manager and explained to his manager that I explicitly do not want the silver car he first showed me parked in the back of the dealership. He then said that he sourced another silver car from Tokai which was the one he would be selling to me. I believed he was telling the truth but had the doubt in the back of my mind because this swopped car also had 28 km on the clock. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I collected the car during my lunch break, I had to sign the checklist before the car was even unveiled. We didn't even check the windscreen where there are apparent scratches/gaps in the tinting. I saw when I arrived at home after work this defect and the white stains which is not polish because it was in the first car I saw and after they show room valeted it, it's evidently now still there. The sound that the car makes when the ignition is turned on does not sound right. I took pictures and recordings sent the complaint to the dealership the next morning to which he rep**** they will valet the car again. Christopher also said if I'm not happy with the car it can be changed for another one. Now after he *********ly got rid of the car I didn't want he is not honoring his word. The response to complaint sent to Renault SA Customer Care Case Number 4-***9 was that the dealership will rectify the defects in the workshop to which I rep**** repairing the car in the workshop is not replacing the car with a defect free car and is not a solution as this defeats the purpose of the purchase. They have completely ignored the fact that they deliberately sold the car I repeatedly and deliberately stated I did not want. I escalated the matter to the Ombudsman. The dealership then registered the vehicle but did not license it so now there is a block at the traffic department and our other vehicle licenses cannot be renewed because the dealership deliberately registered the vehicle even though they responded to the Ombudsman. We cannot drive our owned vehicles unlicensed as we cannot renew the other licenses because of the block of this Renault. This is putting us in a severely ******* position we have no control over and did not cause as we did not have these problems before Renault our vehicles where always licensed and our status at the traffic department has always been in good standing. I will never do business with Renault again, customer service and dealership service is non-existent.
