Renault does not care about the well being of their customers. They shouldn't be even trading in SA
On the 26th November 2019 I took my car to Renault because of no power in the car. I was advised that there was something wrong with one of the injectors and that it will be ordered so I left my car in Paardeneiland. On Friday 29th Seugnet was supposed to call me to give me an update on whether she was successful in ordering the part, no call back was made. I called in on Monday 2nd December and Seugnet apologised for not calling back and expressed how busy they are. I understood because I also work in similar business. Seugnet then advised that the injector was ordered on Friday the 29 November 2019 and eta is 21 days. I told her that I understand at least I would have the car by Christmas.
After the 21 days I started calling Renault for an update and every time I was calling I would be told that consultants are busy leave a message, however no one called. I called in almost every day and eventually I was advised that they will check with the part department and call me back, no one called. I then called again the following day and was transferred to parts which advised that they are expecting parts delivery between 11:00 - 12:00 I must call back. I called back after 3pm on the same day and was advised that there is a back log and the part would be delivered on the 31st December. Seugnet was off work during this time and Ritchie advised that he would request for a car to be provided to me in the meantime until my car is sorted and he would get in contact with me until my car is sorted. He never got back to me. I called in again but to no avail.
Eventually my car was said to be fixed and to be collected mid January2020. On the 20th January 2020 I was on my way to work few minutes away from my workplace when I started smelling smoke inside the car and car indicated Ëngine Hazard Stop”. I parked the car and phoned my dealer because it was just a week since I got my car back. I was advised by Seugnet to contact Roadside Assistance which I did and they took the car to Renault Paardeneiland, Cape Town. I am not really sure what was wrong with the car, however it was said that it is fixed and collected the car on the 2nd February 2020.
On the 3rd February 2020 I sent an email to Seugnet because I could not get hold of anyone in their office. The reason for the call was to book it in because the car Aircon was not working. Seugnet responded on the 10th February 2020 advised that she was off sick. I advised her that the car was booked for the 11th February 2020. On that day I was advised by Seugnet that We found the air-con is faulty there is a Diebold is giving miss readings to the air-con compressor so we will order that”. I collected the car from Renault and advised them to tell me when the part is available so that I can bring it in because I need the car. The Aircon issue was fixed and I collected my car on the 26th February 2020
Below is the recent issue that I am experiencing with my car: First week of June my car had problems again which resulted on no power in the car and I had to bring it in. I was therefore advised that it needs a new Engine. I was so happy that eventually the problem was found and all will be sorted so that I do not have the any problems again. I requested for a courtesy car, however was informed that due to Corvid 19 Policy Renault cannot loan me a car. I honestly did not even mind that I, I was just happy that the car will be fixed. I collected my car on Friday 3rd July and cannot express how I felt when I got it back. Extremely happy.
Since I got the car back I have probably driven it less than 5 times locally as I have been off from work since Friday and was working from home on Monday 6th July 2020.
It is of great sadness to inform you that on Tuesday 7th July 2020, I was driving to work literally 3 min away from my place I smelled smoke coming out of the driver’s side, the white smoke then came out and the car indicated “Engine Failure Hazard STOP”. I then turned back home and parked the car. I took a cab to work and notified my Renault dealer and was advised by Seugnet and Morne to bring in the car. I could not arrange that yesterday because I was already at work and finishing at 6pm. I contacted RSA this morning and they have collected the car at 10:00, however have not heard anything from the dealer.
I am not sure where this is leaving me as a consumer because this issue is reoccurring and seems like no one can fix it. I feel like I am paying for something that I am not even using which is about R7 000.00 including car insurance. I am actually baffled and losing my trust that this problem can ever be fixed. I am scared to drive that car, every time this happens I think of the FORD cars that were getting burnt and this makes me shiver.
I have sent an email to Seugnet yesterday and have highlighted the below: I had my ups and downs with Renault Service, however Seugnet you have showed me nothing but care. I am pleading with you to maybe escalate this with the high powers of Renault Car Dealers and see whether there is nothing else that can be done to resolve this issue. I am a single working mother of 2. I had to give up almost all the luxuries for me to buy a car that was said to be comfortable, family oriented, safe and now I cannot even enjoy the benefits of it and have to pay more money taking Ubers and Taxify”.
Please treat this as High Priority as this issue is very dangerous and can result in me or my family losing their lives.
No compensation offered what so ever
