Renault do not know their own products

Two weeks ago I bought a 2017 Renault Duster 4WD Dynamique. The car received its service at 60 000km at Renault Midrand (who forgot to return the service booklet to the vehicle.) and was delivered to me. I asked that a full software update be done on the vehicle and was assured that it was done. After connecting my phone to the Bluetooth system I found that I could hear the recipient of my call but they could not hear me. The car was then booked in at Motus Nissan/Renault in Menlyn to have this looked at, along with a loose speaker in the Left front door. After dropping the car off at 7:00, I only received the car back by 16:30 - only to hear that a software update is needed (so Midrand ****?) and that Motus was not able to do it (why was my car there for so long then?). Here is where I got upset: 1. They could not do the update because "they need to download software from the net and could not use they dealership internet". 2. They told me to do the update myself. 3, They provided me with a non-working website and some random information like, "look for the update", and "follow the instructions" but could not provide specifics except the faulty website "tomtomhome.co.za".

At least they fastened the loose speaker... after doing some searching and not finding the correct connection to a TomTom System (that the car does not have!) I discovered the Renault UK website which provided the steps to follow, a helpful video guide and such. I successfully updated my system myself and everything is working again.

I have a massive problem with the fact that the dealership, mechanics and service advisors had no knowledge on what to to, how to help or had the ability to so such an update at the dealership. I can only imagine an older person would not be as tech savvy as me and would be left frustrated. The fact that Midrand was supposed to do an update and did not, is also upsetting. Maybe I am spoilt by the service received with my previous 2 cars (Peugeot and BMW), but I at least expected that a dealership with a full workshop would be able to complete something as simple as an update.
