Renault declines warranty claims

I am extremely disappointed with the after-sales service and warranty support from Renault regarding my 2022 Renault Duster (still under warranty, ±50,000 km).

In December 2025 I took my vehicle to Renault Bloemfontein after noticing a faint abnormal noise that sounded like it could be gearbox-related. As a cautious owner, I immediately booked the vehicle in for inspection to prevent any potential damage. The vehicle had no drivability issues, clutch problems, or warning signs prior to this.

After assessment, I was informed that the issue was allegedly caused by a faulty clutch and that the warranty claim had been declined. This is deeply concerning for several reasons:

• A clutch should not fail at 50,000 km under normal driving conditions • The vehicle was still fully under manufacturer warranty • I reported the issue proactively at the earliest sign of abnormal noise • There was no prior clutch abuse or failure symptoms

My vehicle has now been at Renault Bloemfontein for approximately a month without resolution, clear technical explanation, or meaningful customer support. I have also been left without a vehicle during this entire period, with no courtesy car or mobility assistance offered.

As a loyal Renault customer, I expected better accountability and warranty backing for what appears to be a premature component failure. Declining a warranty claim under these circumstances is unacceptable.

Unless this matter is resolved urgently and fairly, I will be pursuing formal legal recourse and escalating the matter through consumer protection channels.

I urge Renault South Africa to review this case and stand behind the reliability and warranty commitments of their vehicles.
