Renault Clio 900T Timing Chain Failure, Bad Experience!
Renault after sales service is the worst in the country, no wonder people do not want to buy Renault - On Thursday, 8 November 2018 my Renault Clio 900T expression 2013 was sent in to Renault Tygervalley for a check up as an engine related rattling noise started two days before (114 000kms). 13:00 pm I was called to be informed or wait, I called them...just to be told that the vehicle requires a Timing Chain Kit change which will cost me at least R12000, to add the door is jammed it will be R1000 (happened before and was repaired on warranty as it is parts failing related), what really puzzles me is that the vehicle was seviced in August for the 105 000 kms service so clearly no one checked the condition of the Timing Chain and to make matters worse, the vehicle's warranty also ended the same time. How convenient or is it? The bottom line is that I am expected to pay R12000 for a vehicle that was serviced from new to date at a Renault franchise, not once elsewhere, yet no one bothered to inform me or check the state of the Timing Chain? To add, we were 1 day away from signing a OTP on a brand new Renault Megane, how can I even think of going ahead if this is the level of service a loyal customer gets. We retracted our application and will fix the Clio elsewehere so that we can change to brand that is better supported in SA. Renault is not a bad brand, if it is driving it is amazing, but you better hope and pray it stays that way, I have been to 5 different Renault franchises and had no good experience. They are all the same, good luck Renault SA you have so much work to do. The other Manufacturers have outdated cars but at least they have a after sales service to talk about. Will miss my French Love affair, will see you in the future again!
