Recall on caps but no communication
I have been a driver of Renault for many years. Close to 4 weeks ago my Kiger overheated having only 27 000km. The service from Renault Assist was great, and the car was towed. For 3 weeks I haven't had any answer from Renault SA nor the dealership. I had to drive to the dealership twice to get some sort of feedback but no plan to resolve the issue. Towards the end of week 2, I had a call from a technician from the dealership - the engine needs to be replaced. According to the service manager, they have not received confirmation from Renault SA that they can proceed with the work. Week 3 - driving to the dealership AGAIN due to no feedback received - Renault SA sent the dealership info that they will not be replacing the engine, but only the starter, thermostat and a cap and the vehicle need to be monitored. During what is now almost FOUR week, I am not offered a courtesy car but am offered a RENTAL for which I need to put down a R2000 deposit or no car?! Now my questions: 1. Why does the dealership not give me feedback? 2. Why does Renault SA take so long to communicate to the dealership? 3. Why should I be making plans to get to work for THREE weeks AND be responsible to pay a deposit to get a vehicle in the meantime? I am happy to pay my fuel used, but not a deposit - I am sure Renault can assist customers who have been without a vehicle for FOUR weeks and no time frame for the repairs. 4. Why did Renault SA not communicate to customers that there is a recall on caps? I understand it's not always possible to identify the vehicles affected, but then at least check it as part of the standard service of the vehicle to avoid this happening. 5. How do you go from an engine replacement needed to changing a starter and thermostat? I travel long distance (early mornings/late afternoons) often - how am I to trust this vehicle? Will Renault SA take care of my safety should the car break down on the road? We know the dangers of stopping next to our highways.
