Purchased a Renault - Worst decision of my life!
Purchasing a Renault has been the worst experience of my life so far.
I purchased a Renault kadjar from Nissan Clearwater and raised a few serious issues within the 7 day period. The car was sent to Renault Clearwater for repairs. This was November 2018. The cubby was making noise and skew so we asked for it to be repaired. They repaired it using insulation tape...The front wiper housing was disconnected and missing clips, they said they had replaced all clips, but later when we had the windscreen repaired the housing was detached again and clips missing (before they started working).
Together with this I queried why our model does not have stop/start as the brochure says that all petrol engines have stop/start. The manager Christoe Beneke argued with me that the brochure refers to the button that starts the car.
Renault Northcliff says that only the manual petrol engines have stop/start...
November 2019 I go to Renault Nothcliff to have the battery replaced which died after only 2 years and have other issues addressed. Once big issue being our passenger seat, seat belt warning light and sound that randomly goes on even though no one is on the seat. This was brought to the attention of Renault Clearwater and a video was presented as proof. They tested the sensor and reset it.
I advised Renault Northcliff of this and showed the head technician the video, I was given the car with the response; "We tested it and there are no errors so we reset it and it should be fine now" otherwise I need to send proof of the issue while we wait for the replacement parts of other issues. They also refused to assist with the clips even though I provided proof that Renault Clearwater was supposed to have fixed it.
The care went in again for the second time at Northcliff to have the ordered parts installed and after I have sent 4 videos proving the issue with the passenger seat, I suggested that the sensor be moved and then only did Werner (foreman) agree to that.
I collected the car again and as I drove out the issue reappeared, I turned around and stopped the car in the doorway of the showroom where Charmaine Azra (Service consultant) saw and hear the issue. The head technician also came to the car and saw the light, but tried to look for other reasons such as me potentially not wearing my seat belt.
I demanded a courtesy car while my care be fixed. (this was on Tuesday). I was denied a courtesy car and told that they will call me first thing the next morning to collect my car and provide me a courtesy car.
I was only called after 12pm on (Wednesday 13/11/2019) by Werner (Foreman) and advised that they cannot provide a courtesy car other than a Kwid or Sandero. I refuse to drive those cars as they are unsafe and in bad condition. The driver that took us home the first time I took the car in to Northcliff drove us in an unlicensed/******* Sandero.
I demanded at the very least a Duster as a courtesy car (as a sign of good faith), but Werner had the audacity to giggle at me for making this request. The Foreman laughed at me for requesting Renault to go the extra mile and be accountable for their negligence. He was very adamant that they will NOT be able to arrange any better vehicle than a Kwid or Sandero.
Later that afternoon (Wednesday 13/11/2019) he called me and confirmed I'll get a Duster and the consultant will arrange for my vehicle to be collected. I only received a call from the service consultant at 11am on (Thursday 14/11/2019). Conveniently no drivers available so my car will only be collected the following morning (Friday 15/11/2019). It takes them more than 2 full days to collect my car after they neglected to fix the issue because instead of looking for the problem they try to prove me or my wife wrong. Between my wife and I we have 5 degrees so I am very sure we know how to operate a safety belt.
I have owned this car for 12 months and it has been sent to a service station 6 going on 7 times. 3 of which will be Renault Northcliff. Total time spent in a service station approximately 1 full month. I paid for that time with the bank, but Renault don't want to spend R 450 to replace the clips one of their branches neglected to replace or at least give me a proper courtesy car. Why do I have to fight for Renault to live up to their "Promise" -
"Our Commitment Why Do The LITTLE things make a BIG difference?
The little things are important: Like a friendly smile when you walk through the door or a call from a service advisor to keep you updated. It's the little things like these that make Renault different."
