Problematic Car. Bad Service. Bad Attitude. No joy!
I bought a Renault Kwid AMT and took delivery on 17 May 2019 at Renault Gateway (Umhlanga).
The vehicle drove fine for a week, until Sunday 26 May 2019 where I had an electronic fault light on the vehicle at approximately 18h26. I called the Roadside Assistance which did not help, and the lady over the phone advised that she was not sure what I was covered for, without asking for any details of my car, or myself (such as Registration Number, ID Number etc.). I called the sales person Ntsiki and told him about the fault on the car, to which he had no knowledge of. I had to park the vehicle at another location other than in my own home for the night as I could not drive the vehicle. When this error light showed up, the car refused to take gear. On Monday, 27 May 2019, the Service Manager Comlin called me and asked me to run a few steps to determine what the cause of the problem was. However, I took the vehicle back to the dealership as requested by Comlin. He had a look at the car, and only to be told that the car needed an update on the software and he did this for me and will not have an issue with the car. That same afternoon, I needed to fill fuel in the car, and asked the petrol attendant to fill the tank. Upon filling, the fuel spilled out of the tank. When I checked the fuel gauge, I noticed that there was one less bar. I asked the petrol attendant to fill more fuel until the tank was full. I did not take heed of this as I thought this was the petrol attendant’s mishap. On 30 May 2019, I needed to fill fuel again, and asked the petrol attendant to fill my tank again (this time a different garage). The same problem occurred where the fuel spilled on the floor again, and the gauge showed one less bar again! I called the salesman again and told him of this fault. By this time my patience was running very low with the car and dealership. When I told him what happened I also explained to him that every few days there’s an issue with the vehicle, and it seems as though he sold me a problematic car. He referred me to the service manager Comlin once again, who claimed that this is now my fault and I will need to bring the car in to the workshop again. After kicking up a fuss about not bringing the car in myself, they fetched the car on the morning of 31 May 2019, and returned to me later in the day. I received a call from the so-called Sales Manager Sugen whom was extremely rude and uncouth over the phone. He kept blaming me for the issues of the car, to which I rep**** and told him how can I be at fault when the problems above has nothing to do with me? My brother intervened in this and helped me to get to the bottom of these issues. He spoke to the Sales Manager Sugen as well and asked him why he is giving me attitude when I escalated a problem. My brother told him the faults of the car and told him that this is becoming unacceptable to continuously bring in a new vehicle to the workshop almost every few days! My brother says that Sugen was also rude to him. The same afternoon, I jumped into my vehicle and tried to start the car and noticed that the ignition was tight, and I battled to get the key into the ignition. Prior to the car going to the workshop, the ignition worked fine. There were no issues. I also noticed that when I was driving home, I could not drive faster than 100km/h and the car was making a loud grinding noise. This was never the case. When I got home, my brother called the Dealer Principle to tell him about the issues we faced thus far. His name is Trevor. The most unprofessional uncouth person! When my brother explained the problems to him, his replies was “Yaa”. No solid explanation was given as to why we faced these issues and asked to bring the car back. We also called Ntsiki the salesman, and told him to keep the vehicle and this deal will be called off. I explained to him that I will not be tolerating buying a new car and having so much issues. He told us that there’s nothing he can do, and he slammed the phone down. I contacted Comlin again and asked him what he did to the car and explained the issue again. He said that he will visit in the morning and have a look at the car again. Renault South Africa, please can you attend to the poor service and problematic product I purchased?
