POOR SERVICE TO A RENAULT SA CLIENT

I collected my Renault Clio IV Dynamique from BB Motors Tzaneen in August 2019 after gearbox replacement. The very same day, on my way home, I noticed the following warnings: 1. Check Stop and Start 2. Check Hill Start Assistance 3. I also noticed that the reverse light was no longer working I emmediately called the BB Motors to alert them about the ver same issues. I was told that their computer was broken hence they won't be able to attend to those issue especially the first two.

On 28/09/2019 I took my car for a service and also requested them to check those item I highlighted above. They only serviced the car but the other issues remained unresolved due to the alleged computer which was not working. The service warning spanner was still on as they alleged that they also need a computer to remove it.

On 17/12/2019 went to them for fitting breakpads wherein, on enquiry, I was informed that the computer was operational and I requested that they should also attend to all those issues they alleged could be resolved by the computer. I was told that I will have to pay R825 for "strip to quote". They further told me that the total cost to fix those problems identified will be R4269-38 but due to time factor, they said, they could not attend to those issue on the day, I have to bring the car for two days due to the work they have to perform. However, they said if I pay R4269-00 that day, the "strip to quote" amount would have been included in, but if I pay only the R825 I will have to pay R4269-38 when I come back. I then went for a better option of paying all inclusive amount in advance.

I need to mention that I did protest against any payment because my understanding was that all those issues were related to the gearbox they installed in the vehicle. In simple terms, I was and I am still of the view that they did not do their job properly when they replaced the new gearbox and I was never informed that there such problems when I collected the vehicle. I wanted my car to be fixed hence I reluctantly agreed to pay the R4269-38. We then agreed that I should return the car to them on 02/01/2020 and I will collect it the following day.

On 02/01/2020 I collected the vehicle as promised. All the warning signs were clear on the screen and the Hill Start Assistance was operational since I could test it on the spot. However, the reverse light was not fixed as they told me that there is switch I had to buy and I was given a quote to the tune of R3786.81.

I then requested the invoice of the service they rendered for the R4269-38 which they failed to give me. They said the only thing I could get was the printouts from the computer relating to the testing of the vehicle. So they decimally failed to provide an invoice to me just to account for the R4269-39.

The following day, 04/01/2020 (Saturday), all the warnings resurfaced on the screen and the Hill Start Assistance was no longer working. I called them on Monday, 06/01/2020, to inform them about those issues. I was told to bring the car back which I did on Tuesday, 07/01/2020.

I honestly nearly jumped out of my skin when I was told that they did not fix those items, it was only for a temporary measure and they will be able to fix everything only when I buy the switch I was given a qoute of R3786-81, . It then became obvious to me that there was someting not right hence they failed to account for the amount R4269-38 that I paid.

In conclussion, I need to indicate that these issues have taught me that Renault vehicles are not reliable and user friendly and they don't have competent technicians especially at Tzaneen. I was made to pay full price for a temporary measure service and I was never informed about that at the time it occured.

Renault South Africa should investigate this issue and come up with proper remedial actions.
