Multifranchise - Tokai ********* customer service - don't trust them!

I recently took my Renault to be serviced at Multifranchise Tokai. The overall result was a rushed superficial service - and they charged as much as possible for doing the least amount of work.

They even tried to get me to replace my brake pads even though they have at least 3000 km left on them. When I took my car into them a few weeks back for a service and asked them to fix my aircon - all they did was re-gass it for which they charged R800! and they didn't even check the cause of the leak - as it happens the aircon stopped pumping cool air within 5km of me picking it up.

I took it back to them on Monday and around 2pm they called me to tell me there was a bad leak (go figure!) and they would have to charge a further R500 to re-gass it so they could check where the leak was! I told them I was not going to pay for a re-gass since they should have checked for the leak when the car was in for service the week before.

They called at 4.30pm that afternoon to tell me that there was a 'noise' coming from the compressor and it would need replacing since it was not working properly. Interesting that this 'noise' wasn't detected during the service! This is nonsense - and the anticipated response from the service dept. (I've had a lot of experience with service agents and aircons). I had the compressor superficially checked by a local aircon company last week - they confirmed the compressor appears to be working and running smoothly and said that based on their observations the most likely cause of the aircon not working was a leak caused by either a faulty hose / gasket or o-ring. Something that should be easy to fix. I asked Tokai MF where the leak was and they said they hadn't checked yet! I feel like a dog chasing its tail.

The overall impression I have is that you can't trust Multifranchise Tokai - and that they will charge for anything and everything that requires the least amount of work. I'm starting to wonder if they actually serviced my vehicle at all.

I've now just heard back from them - apparently there isn't a leak in the aircon. So why did they lie to me and why did they charge for re-gassing the aircon in the first place! On top of this they now want to charge R17,000 for a new compressor - because they don't carry parts for Renault or any make of car they service! I am now livid - and will never buy another Renault or use this ********* company again! I intend to take this far further.
