Group 1 Renault Clio - The Glen - Henrico Viljoen - Gerald
9 July 2018
On the Renault Group 1 - The Glen site, I see a Renault Clio GT-Line, 31000KM, R179900. I send through a query because I am interested. A gentleman by the name of Henrico Viljoen emails me and asks how he can assists me. I tell him I'm interested in the vehicle, break down my budget and criteria for him to see if I qualify.
Henrico: "I have a blue 2016 Clio GT line 30000km R189900. Please complete the attached application and send with the following docs: ID & Drivers, 3 months payslip"
On the morning of the 10th July I then send all my documentation as requested along with the application form for the vehicle.
10 July 2018 | 08:5 0AM Henrico: "Morning Khanyisile
Thank you for your application and docs will keep you posted."
10 July 2018 | 02:23 PM Me: "Hi Henrico,
Any feedback?"
10 July 2018 | 02:49 PM Henrico: "Hey Khanyisile
Yes we have approval – just waiting for final valadations from the bank, Gerald will phone you as soon as he has the clear"
Everything seems to be in order, however I'm the one that's constantly communicating with this man. 1st red flag.
11 July 2018 | 12:21 PM Me: " Okay thanks Henrico. Can I come today to test drive the vehicle?"
Henrico proceeds to ask me what time and we confirm for 4PM.
I arrive at The Glen around 4:30 PM with my boyfriend, we're excited to test drive the vehicle. To my surprise Henrico leads me to a white 2016 GT-Line that's sitting on about 60 000KM. I'm confused. He tells me that the one that I was actually there for (2016 Renault Clio GT-Line @31000KM) has in fact been SOLD! But it was right there, with a R189900 price tag on the dashboard. Fine I brush it off, in my mind I'm thereto test drive the GT-Line, so we do that, with the one he now wants to sell to me.
We happy. The car moooves and I'm in love, but I just can't shake off the feeling that that's not the car I wanted and asked about. I ask him the price on this one, obviously because the mileage is higher. Henrico tell me that the price is R189900. I'm so confused. I'm clearly being played. He tells me he has to take the car for its 60000KM service, cool.
Me and my boyfriend are questioning everything, and from the multiple excuses, what I remember him saying is that the prices are as is because they (the dealership) bought the car at a high price, but he can get it down to R179900 for me. We leave and that's that.
The next day I'm waiting for a call from Henrico. Nothing. The front lady tells me he's off sick which I understand because he was coming down with the flu heavily. I ask my boyfriend to call them and speak to Gerald, the account manager. My boyfriend tells Gerald which vehicle I want and they concluded that they would sort out the paper work and finalisation for it. So basically Henrico ****, the vehicle was still in the market. I'm excited. I'm getting the vehicle I want, with lower mileage.
Gerald did not call the next day, Friday the 13th, as he should have, for the final bank confirmation. We infact called him the whole day and couldn't reach him, until about 2PM where his excuse was he had a funeral to attend to. So I ask him whats happening, I want this car as in yesterday. He tells me he will call me in the next 45 min, he has some things to finalise or whatever. Cool. I let him be.
1. No sense of customer service at Renault Group 1 - The Glen. 2. No sense of urgency. 3. No communication. 4. Unreliable bunch of gents. 5. And no sense of customer satisfaction. 6. Thanks a bunch for wasting my time.
A very disappointed potential client, Khanyisile Maphanga
