Do not buy a Renault

I am a Renault customer, I say begrudgingly! I have just experienced the worst after sales service ever. On Saturday, I was stuck no less than 80km away from my home in the middle of nowhere. I called the Renault dealership where I bought my (fairly expensive) brand new car just under 2years ago. I explained to the dealer principal that I was stuck and that I couldn't understand why since the car is not very old. He immediately launched into defense and proceeded to explain that it has nothing to do with the fact that the car has been for a service and that I need to get the car to a dealership asap. How? He had no concern for the fact that I was stuck so far away from home (with two small children in the car!). He was completely unconcerned and still has not contacted me to enquire as to whether I got my car to a dealership or whether I found a way home safely. Then dealing with the dealership that my insurance company assisted me in getting my car to was not much better. They called me on Monday morning to ask what happened to the car and then called back later in the afternoon to tell me that my engine needed to be replaced. The ENGINE! REALLY? ON A PRACTICALLY NEW CAR? I then asked if I would be given a courtesy vehicle, to which they rep**** something along the lines of "sorry lady, according to Renault SA, you can not have a courtesy vehicle if your car is not being serviced for more than five days"...again, REALLY? it's not like my car has gone in to have wipers replaced...it's the engine for goodness sakes. Surely I did not buy a brand spanking new vehicle just so that I could be immobile. But Renault evidently don't care what happens to you once they've made that sale on the shiny new car. So in my humble (and utterly frustrated opinion) it's definitely not worth spending your money on a motor vehicle brand that can't be bothered to give you the common courtesy of merely checking that you can get safely from one place to another.
