Disgusting after service
On the 24/07/2020 I purchased a renault kwid from the Durban branch. Initially there was no issues but on the 31/07/2020 I picked up faults that I was not happy with.
2. When taking off in 1st gear the clutch shudders, uphill or on a straight road.
3. When braking there is a grinding noise
4. When I start the car, the engine makes a whining noise while idling.
5. The petrol gauge or trip computer reading seems faulty. As it will display a certain amount of km’s left to travel then reset itself and remain blank then display a different reading and then count down to the original kms left.
The vehicle was brought in on the 3/08/2020 for assessment and I was advised that the steering wheel not returning to its original position is “how the car is made”. The steering wheel sticks just before returning to the straight position and makes turning corners dangerous. That cannot be “how the car is made”.
The clutch shudders at 3500 rpm, regardless of whether I am taking off on a hill or a straight road.
The brakes are making 2 different types of noises intermittently: First is a grinding noise. I was advised that this was the coating that prevents rust forming when the vehicle is transported on the ships which I understand, but why was it not removed before I purchased the vehicle or once the purchase was confirmed. Please note that I am not referring to emergency braking, just normal braking.
The second noise is a screeching noise. This noise was not heard by the gentleman who took the car for a test drive.
The last problem is the petrol gauge reading. It will display a certain amount of km’s left to travel then reset itself and remain blank then display a different reading and then count down to the original kms left.
I have received feedback stating that these are the 'characteristics' of the kwid. If that is so then why were none of this discussed during the sale? The dealership has offered to exchange the vehicle but I need to trade the kwid in and with that said I will lose an estimated amount of +-R36000 which I feel is unfair as the vehicle is 3 weeks old and the dealership was aware of the problems from the 31/07/2020 that's 7 days this process has now been dragged out for far too long. I have tried to get the bank to assist in canceling the finance but no one can seem to assist me.
