Brake pads AND discs at 30 000KM???

While I have no gripe about a specific dealer, my complaint here is about the quality of materials used in vehicle manufacture. I have a Renault Sandero Stepway Plus and am very proud of my car. I'm a long time Renault owner and an ex-Renault staff member, so this is coming from a place of personal experience and of concern. I sent my car in for its 30k service this morning and was called by the Service Advisor and notified that my front brake pads AND discs needed replacing at a cost of R5500. I'm sorry, but there's no way in hell (unless one drives like an absolute savage...my girlfriend will attest to the fact that this is not the case) that the discs could be worn at 30k... unless substandard metal is used in manufacture. Now...if that IS the case, then I'm ok with it...if the replacement of said part was covered by a Maint Plan, but the Stepway doesn't come with one. As a previous service advisor, I can't recall ever asking a customer to replace brake discs at 30k km, it seems insane to me. So, the consensus is, the manufacturer decides to supply substandard parts at assembly and the customer ends up baring the cost for replacement when the parts fail/wear prematurely????? All/most online forums list the replacement age of pads (never mind discs) specifically for the Renault/Dacia Sandero, at about 35k-45k MILES, how is it that my pads and discs need replacing at 30k km???

Seems entirely unfair to me.
