Atrocious service from Renault
I took my car in for a service in May 2019 to Renault Menlyn, the car had a water and oil leak and I mentioned it to the Service Advisor and asked him to have it checked. When I collected my car he said he would contact the warranty department and order the water bottle that needed to be changed. 6 weeks passed and he still had not contacted me and I was patient thinking that the bottle is coming from France anyway and it would take some time. When I contacted him, he then asked me to bring the car in to take photos, which means he had done nothing about my issue and had not contacted the warranty department or ordered the bottle as he had said he would. I was so upset as I would also have assumed that he would have taken then photos when I brought the car in for the service. In any case I took the car in for photos and he said he would get back to me. A week later he came back to me with a ridiculous story and that warranty would not pay for the bottle and I would have to pay just over R7000 for them to replace the bottle. A day or two after that, as I was picking up my son from school, the car just stopped working. I had to have it towed, A technician I know that works with renault cars came to have it checked while it was stationary at my sons school the same day and he said that I should have been advised not to drive the car when I had taken it for the service as now my car had more problems because the water was not getting to other parts of the car that it should have gotten to. I am writing here as I tried to contact Renault South Africa about the atrocious service I received and they did not take responsibility for not doing the job they were to do and that is to advise me as they are more knowledgeable about the car than me. The service advisor did not do his job and I have had to incur so much costs to fix the car and I am not even 100% sure that the car is 100% fine now. The worse part is I have only advocated for the Renault brand since 2006. I have bought only Renault cars since I got my licence. This is my 3rd Renault Megane and my first was a Clio. After so much loyalty I am so disappointed to receive such bad service. My car is a Renault Megane 4 GT Line, 30000km on it and honestly I don't feel very safe driving it currently after what happened. I wish I could change my car but because of my current circumstances I cannot at the moment. I am so frustrated with Renault.
