Unexplained Electricity Charges – Urgent Clarification Needed
I recently moved into a new apartment on March 1st and have noticed serious inconsistencies in my electricity charges. In my previous apartment, where I had a standard electricity meter, I maintained a strict budget—spending R500 every two months in summer and R500 per month in winter. My consumption habits have not changed:
I only use lights in the room I am in.
I switch off all plugs when not in use, including large and small appliances.
I have the same appliances as in my previous apartment.
Despite this, I have noticed random deductions labeled NETCOLLECT FEE STD, including charges on days when I was away with everything switched off. Shockingly, on some of these days, I was charged even more than when I was home actively using electricity.
Additionally, I understand there is a platform dashboard management fee of R15.17 per day, adding up to around R470 per month on top of my usual electricity costs. This is outrageous!
I demand a clear explanation:
What exactly is the NETCOLLECT FEE STD, and why am I being charged even when no electricity is being used?
Why am I seeing higher charges on days when I am not home?
What are all these extra fees, and why am I paying significantly more than before?
This feels like blatant overcharging, and I expect a prompt and detailed response explaining these discrepancies. You are worse than eskom.
