RMS - a real poor example of a business without any understanding
Remote Metering solutions is utterly useless with regards to their service, standards of operation, their ethics and staff. Within the last month I have been charged R15000 for a water bill using 184000 liters in 5 days that they claim I used without my property being occupied and when queried, I was threatened to be disconnected if I didn't pay, they would not even entertain considering their meter malfunctioned yet I provided all the details they required as well as a report from a plumber of the estate which fell on deaf ear. Their staff handled the matter extremely poorly after us contacting them no less than 10 times trying to resolve the matter and escalate it which was unsuccessful.
This week when my helper got to my property, I was told the power was off and for long enough that the fridge and freezer has defrosted. The first thing I was told is that there is no compensation for the good that would have went off.
Secondly it took 3 calls, one of which I was told they resetting the meter, the second call, I was on hold for over half an hour, the third call finally resulted in a technician being sent out. At no time could any of the consultants relate to me what to check for apart from the breaker in my unit.
RMS seems to have a stand point of taking absolutely no responsibility for anything that happens and are quick to threaten disconnection without even trying to understand or explain the possible scenarios that could occur.
I would urge anyone considering their services to stay far away. This frustration was confirmed by my managing agent.
We will investigate the matter and will contact you.
It is important to note that as the utility Service provider we collect utility related charges on behalf of the BC within the relevant Municipalities by-laws and tariff structures.
It sounds like you have experienced a leak that occurred which resulted in these big charges.
Regarding the compensation of the high charges regrettably we are not authorized to provide compensation in the event of leaks and would be a matter between, the BC, Estate manager, Plumbers and insurance company.
We will be in contact with you to provide you with guidance on how to get the matter resolved.
