poor communication, support, time management and education

I have in the past registered and graduated from UJ, NWU and WITS so my review is based on expectations of service, teaching, support and communication an educational institution should possess.

I am registered for a BCOM honours in HR, My results for the 2024 first semester have been withheld because of unpaid fees, and as such I do not know if I passed, failed or qualify for a supplementary exam. On top of everything else, I app**** for an aegrotat exam for one of my modules I could not write. I have reached out to regent, it seems pointless at this point.

My employer who is in the public sector is paying for my fees, this was confirmed during registration and as such the process is a bureaucratic lengthy process that I am not in control of. I have been calling and sending emails to no avail, I have sat on the telephone line for minutes until i was 1st in line only for the call not to be taken and I was told by an automated voice I will be called back, which has not happened. If I wanted to be called back I would not have called in the first place I would have sent an email requesting to be called back, mind you waiting in line is money. I have sent a letter from my ETD department reconfirming that they will pay my fees and stressed that time is of the essence in the matter no one has responded. I do not know how big the finance/student accounts department is but the only person to contact is Zanele Mpulo and no one else. May my communication be attended to resolve this matter so one may know where they stand.

I would also like to address the following: 1. Assignments: Students are expected to write and submit assignments on chapters that they have not been taught, even in the 1 hour webinars that are held for the sake of just presenting to the students the quality of education is dismal. the grading of the assignments has been questionable to say the least, while students fail as a result payments for resubmissions and remarking are solicited for everyone to pass. Even then there is zero support.

There is absolutely no support for the research and other modules, no tutoring nothing, any request to clarify course content is not answered by the teaching staff. Some of the lecturers are impatient and snap at students for asking questions and seeking clarity during the webinars. For research, a proposal is due before even all the sections of the proposal have been addressed in the webinars and we are told to start reading and working on our report's chapter 1-3 without feedback how does one proceed without any direction or indication that that one is on the right path. I have tried to send other parts of my research proposal, namely the permission letter months ago, I have not received any confirmation and feedback to date. We are destined to fail at this point, it does seem like the point is to come back and re-register next year.

The institution is driven by money in a country and society with endemic poverty, people are studying with loans and sacrifice a lot to register to better themselves and careers through education, the Regent administration ought to be ashamed of itself, it is no better than the many ************ educational institutions out here.
