Rea vaya lift for disabled

My name is Masood Hamid aged 26 from a Eldorado park. I am disabled and is dependent on a electric wheelchair to get around . I’m suffering from a disability called muscular Dystrophy witch causes weakening in muscles in whole body and still no cure to this. I am really disappointed angry and hurt as for on the 1Dec 2020 I was using Rea vaya bus public transport to get around and I fell out of my wheelchair trying to exit the bus and lift started to not function properly. It has been a battle I’ve been fighting for few years now to where have asked if this can get looked into and it’s still been ignored now until something seriously happened. I had head injury with a lot bleeding and hurt left ankle. I am lucky that was not that bad but it could have been worse . This is not first incident I have been ****** twice on my way home because I would reach a station at Lakeview And we would wait and at times I can wait for over 1 hour to 2 hours because no lifts are working by that time it’s dark as i will leave work early and get home past 9 even 10. Even at times I need drive a distance to get home on wheelchair or call someone to pick me up and it is an inconvenience as these busses cater for disabled but mostly out service. I rely on these busses to be independent and not ask people to take me to places as well as work. I am just really disgusted by service I been getting and now that got injured I cannot leave this now as it’s gone far now.

After the accident we waited over 2 almost 3 hours get ambulance there as Rea vaya supervisions tried contacting people and nobody seemed to have wanted to help only supervisor stayed and made sure that could get to Lenmed hospital and they had pay for consultation at hospital.

I have broken both phones my glasses and than had few injuries that had keep off work for few days which resulted to unpaid leave days as I just started a job at Nedbank and I’m on contract as we speak. I could even get into trouble at work as for lifts in morning Also would make me late and I get taken into disciplinary for late coming.

I feel like we need get this sorted as for what will happen to others like me. We even have so much witnesses of not only this day of accident but previous times too as people would see how one I would have to wait and busses just pass. I know more disabled people having this problem and we need address this and sort it out.
