Charged Unfairly
Boarded a Rea Vaya bus in Soweto, Dobsonville to Johannesburg route. The procedure is to tag a card as you board, so that you can be billed for the trip. This time, the and as. It would happen a number of times, the tagging machine doesn't work, but the driver tells us to just go in, since the machine is not working, but unknowingly, boarding the bus without tagging leads to penalties. I had loaded money a few days before, and traveled to my destination, not thinking what would happen. I heard from the guy behind me as I tagged out of the station that I have been penalised, I thought it was a small amount, but realised when I tried boarding the bus later on the evening around 8:30pm that I had lost all the money I had on my card to penalties. Why isn't there quality systems to make sure machines work every time.. It means I got to pay for something that's not my problem, it would be forgivable if this was my first experience of a tagging machine that doesn't work, but now I realise I been penalised more than once for a system failure not of my own doing. Many times the machines don't work.. Why are we being penalised for something not of our doing?
