Lack of Transparency and Unfair Account Practices at RCS/ Edgards/Jet
I’ve been a loyal customer of Edgars Jet for over 25 years, and I’ve never experienced anything as frustrating and opaque as this. Despite consistently paying R850 per month, my account balance has not decreased as expected. In 2022, I was told my outstanding amount was around R1,200 — yet it has now ballooned to R2,700, purely due to accumulated interest.
RCS claims that my payments were allocated to all various plans (yes , believe it or not, they have different plans) while interest continued to accrue on a “resolving/straight account.” I was never informed about this setup, never requested it, and from my statements, I see no clear evidence that any payments were app**** to this account. They’ve even offered to restructure and combine plans to prioritize the resolving/straight account — but this only adds to the confusion.
To make matters worse, Edgards /Jet no longer offers the 6-month repayment option, which was far more manageable. Instead, they only provide 24-36 month plans, which feel more like a strategy for self-enrichment than genuine customer support. These long-term plans trap customers in extended debt cycles with excessive interest, making it extremely difficult to settle accounts.
It seems the real issue lies with RCS, who now manage these accounts. Their system appears incapable of reconciling payments accurately, and their communication is vague at best. I’ve requested a full breakdown of how my payments have been app****, but the responses have been unclear and unhelpful. They keep insisting that an amount is allocated to this plan — but if that were true, why would the balance still be R2,700? All purchases over the past few months were made under the 24-month plan. It simply doesn’t make sense.
This experience has severely eroded my trust in RCS. I hope this public complaint prompts a transparent explanation and a fair resolution — not just for me, but for other long-standing customers who deserve better. I strongly urge other Jet customers to review their accounts carefully. It’s easy to be blindsided by how interest is app****, especially when payments aren’t clearly reflected or explained. What may seem like regular repayments could be quietly accumulating interest, leaving you with a growing balance despite your efforts to pay it down.
Transparency is essential, and every customer deserves to understand exactly how their payments are being allocated. Don’t assume everything is in order — check your statements, ask questions, and demand clarity.
