Rawson

Rawson Parklands, Cape Town. Not happy! Sold our property but registration had not yet gone through. The transfer date was 1 July. On that date, the selling agent for our property, Zylma Campbell, contacted me to ask for the keys and asked me to drop them off by her at her office i.e. Rawson's office by Builders Warehouse, Sunningdale (I still have her voice messages requesting the keys from me). I then met her there and gave them to her in her hands and the buyers then had access to the property and were working on it. Firstly, Zylma knew full well that occupational rent should first be paid by the buyers before keys are handed over to them (I didn't know this at the time) and she knew that the buyers hadn't paid it yet, and also, when the listing agent for the property found out that Zylma had received the keys and asked her how she got them, she said I asked her where I should drop the keys off and I dropped them off, so in other words saying that she didn't ask me for them and that I took it upon myself to drop them off and leave it at their offices. Next thing we knew, the occupational rent was being used as a bargaining tool and we lost that rent. I thought all agents had certain ethical standards to uphold? Also, selling a property is stressful enough as it is, we didn't need this extra stress.
