I was sold a house under false pretenses. I have been paying for that house for the past 2 years and have not been able to move in and have been given so many stories about this house. I have spent a lot of money on it and no one wants to take responsibility for the mess. I was dealing with Rawsons estate agent Mpho Thekiso as i desperately needed to buy a house for my kids. He saw my desperation and used it to his advantage to get his commission. He told me he was not dealing with Soweto houses and will recommend someone who will help me with the sale and i agreed. He then gave me Andries who liaised with me through out the sale. Mpho assured me that there will be no problems and on the Offer to purchase he even wrote himself that registration will only be done when the house i'm buying is vacant and i have the key. Since he knew that i'm a first time buyer and desperate he kept in contact and checked in almost everyday and then i found out there were tenants in the house and he assured me again that they will be out soon. There was a point where i wanted to cancel the sale but he came and convinced me otherwise and told me all tenants have moved and there's only one left. after a few days i sent him a watsapp asking about the 1 tenant and i got no response and i was now on my own after they got my money. I would call and no response from there onward. I went through the courts and the all and i still have not been able to move into that house. This year i decided to speak to Rawsons head office for help and spoke to a few people and they gave me Maryke Visser(also rawsons agent) to try and help. To cut the story short Maryke told me that Rawsons will not take responsibility as the house was on auction and was sold with tenants which was new to me. I told her that was not the truth as even the Offer to purchase stated that the house will be vacant and that was written by her colleague, that's why i went ahead with the sale. I was now able to speak to Mpho again and have email and all and he actually told me Maryke is lying and was just getting rid of me, that house was never on auction it was sold by the owner. I wanted to speak to head office but was given email addresses that did not work. I have been sent from pillar to post and still paying for the house they sold to me under false pretenses as just recently i found out that Mpho Thekiso was the one behind the sale and he got the commission for the house. All i'm saying is was rawsons not supposed to be honest with me and tell me the house was on auction so I can decide whether i still want it or not? Why did they give me false hope thinking i have done something good and bought a house for my kids? How many people do they do this to? I went to Rawsons as i thought it was reputable place and had honest agents only to find out they are not honest at all. I cry about this everyday and feel so depressed and disappointed. All rawsons has done is give me the middle finger and show me they do not care.
