Atrocious service from Rawson Properties agent
Atrocious doesn’t quite cover it for me, but I guess I will have to settle. Ms. Nadine Liebenberg from Rawson Properties makes it abundantly clear that her job is a burden and that she wants to do as little as possible without ignoring it completely. But instead of discharging a toxic, uninformative rant, please see the unfolding of events (coloured with my opinion) that has led me to this conclusion.
I phoned ahead to schedule viewings for the only weekend I was able to be in Cape Town a week and a half ahead of time. Her immediate reaction was that she does not work on weekends. Only after making it clear that I was only present in Cape Town for the weekend she agreed to show me the property I enquired about. When I phoned to confirm a viewing time the Wednesday before said weekend, she again abruptly said no to working on the weekend before having a vague recall that I’ve phoned previously and then reluctantly agreed to a showing but only in the morning. So, after shuffling around my busy viewing schedule, for her, THE AGENT, we agreed on a time for the viewing. The morning of the viewing she cancelled and “wanted to reschedule for Sunday” (that is not a quote, it’s just a precursor for what’s to come). At this point she tried to mitigate work even more by sending a video tour and somehow, only then, remembered some other flatlets I may be interested in. I sent her a message to let her know that I will let her know as soon as I’ve finished my last viewing the next day along with the time it was scheduled for. I received no reply. The next morning after the viewing I tried to phone and got no answer. I had to phone again ten minutes later since I got no call back. The excuse was that her phone was on silent, and then I was told I should have scheduled a time. So apparently it was my mistake to assume that any rational person would expect a viewing when saying they will let you know as soon as they are done with the people that actually did bother to KEEP THEIR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. Apparently, it is also my mistake to assume that someone will keep their phone handy when someone says they will contact them as soon as they are done with a scheduled appointment. She then said that she has to phone the owners and see if they are available, which I take to mean that she never even bothered to enquire about availability before. Ten minutes later (keep in mind this means 20 minutes of waiting since the first call) I received a message (not a call) that the first owner was not available and the second owner needs to come back to her. Forty-five minutes after this I sent the message: “We are leaving.” Two days later I still have had no reply, no call, no apology, no follow-up.
I find it baffling that someone can be this lazy, ***********, and unprofessional in this time during which thousands of people are losing their jobs. I can’t help but wonder how much income is lost for Rawson Properties and its clients that are trying to rent out their properties in this time which is clearly a renters’ market. I just wish I could contact those owners directly to let them know about the situation as I am sure they are not getting the full picture.
