A Traumatic Experience with Taryn Steven from Rawson Properties Northriding: Unprofessional, *********, and Lacking Customer Service Skills.
I encountered a concerning issue with Rawson Properties Northriding that I feel compelled to share. On Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, at 20:20, I noticed the property I had made an offer on was listed as "Sold" on Property24, just two days after receiving the signed offer to purchase (OT)P from the seller. I immediately reached out to Melanie, the agent I had been in contact with, via WhatsApp. She rep**** with the following message:
"No trouble at all. We received a cash offer too. However, the funds are not secured, and I'm not sure how reliable the purchaser is. Unfortunately, as soon as we load a cash purchase onto our system, it automatically appears as 'Sold' until we remove it. No need to stress just yet. The one I'm concerned about is the one applying for a bond only, i.e., Offer number 2. I will notify you if there are any developments there."
This response raised a red flag for me. How could a property be listed as "Sold" when there is still an offer pending? This was both surprising and concerning.
To ensure my bond application was moving forward, I contacted Absa and, at 21:36, received an email confirming that the desktop valuation had been completed. I was informed that the final offer would be ready by Wednesday, March 5th, before 10:00.
At 21:55, I forwarded this update to Melanie via WhatsApp. Ten minutes later, at 22:05, I received an email from Taryn Steven. I assume Melanie shared my expected final offer with Taryn, prompting the 72-hour clause to be activated.
Based on these events, it appears Rawson Properties Northriding had already made a decision about the property, yet they failed to inform me. I find this behavior unprofessional and *********. It is troubling to receive a binding email enforcing the 72-hour clause late at night, when people may not be available to respond. This approach feels deceptive and inconsiderate.
The past four days, especially my interactions with Taryn Steven, were incredibly traumatic. Her lack of professionalism, ethics, and customer service skills made what should have been a positive experience feel like a nightmare. I deeply regret working with them to find a home, and this experience is one I wouldn't wish on anyone.
They do not even deserve a 1 star.
