RWC denying the reversal of back dated NMD charges billed on 23/06/2026

I have submitted, in my view, 7(seven) actual and legitimate disputes on backdated notified demand charges on electricity since the 2nd of July 2026. I have also subsequently requested to meet with the Acting MM after realizing RWC (Rand West City Local Municipality) is, in my view, deliberately delaying a response on the disputes. A virtual meeting was held with Large Power Users and chaired by RWC's Me Naledi Madonsela at the beginning of July 2026, trying to explain the backdated charges billed on 23/06/2026. Despite having been notified that RWC will not take credit control actions on accounts in arrear because of these charges, RWC has indeed issued 48-hour notices for disconnection, which is by the way ********. Up to today, RWC has not notified me on the outcome of the disputes submitted, nor responded on the request to meet with the acting MM, despite acknowledging the 7(seven) disputes submitted. From interaction with clients, I have been informed that RWC also do not have any written records that discloses the actual notified demand applications for electricity.

I am thus of the view that RWC is not meeting their legal duty to respond to disputes submitted and are trying to bamboozle Large Power Users in accepting the backdated electricity charges billed.
