Please find attached letter from Dr WA van der Meulen regarding Mr Nicolaas Kruger, ID: *** 083

Please note that this patient was re-admitted into the Netcare Alberton Hospital.

We are trying to get a spinal stimulator approved for the patient, without success.

February patient was discharge on request of Rand Mutual Assurance request, they said to Mr Kruger they would arrange for a second opinion with a Neurosurgeon not in the same facility as Dr WA van der Meulen. Patient was discharge 09/02/2024, till today no appointment with another Neurosurgeon was set up for a second opinion for Mr Kruger.

In the meantime, this patient is suffering from pain.

Yesterday an email was sent to request for RMA to phone me, to try to get assistance for Mr Kruger. This morning my colleague phoned request assistance, we were guaranteed that we would have in answer within an hours’ time, still no answer she phone at 11:00 this morning.

I refer to my previous reports.

Patient is admitted via Casualty to hospital with complaints of pain.

Arrangements for a third opinion were going to be made by RMA but this has not been forthcoming, and I understand that he had discussions with RMA representatives directly regarding this.

Once again, this letter to act as motivation for consideration to be given for a spinal cord stimulator to be placed. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me personally.

In the meantime, for conservative management in hospital.

I certify that I have by examination, satisfied myself that the injury(ies) of the employee is the result of the accident.
