82, suffocating and no progress!

I'm writing this letter on behalf of my father in law. He was employed at Iscor from 1953 to 1992. When he went on pension his exit examination showed he contracted asbestosis. He received no compensation. At the time he was fit and feeling healthy and it didn't occur to him that this disease would affect him the way it does until recently.

In 2015, he app**** for compensation, traveling to van Der bijl Park, went for the medical examinations, paperwork, more paperwork, phone calls and emails. He was eventually told that Iscor approved his claim thus accepting their responsibility. Iscor referred his claim to the RMA who in the said that they are not liable because asbestosis is a "mine" illness and Iscor is not a "mine". The RMA referred it to the MBOD. We later got feedback that in a meeting between Iscor and the RMA, it was decided that the RMA is indeed liable to handle this claim.

Iscor doesn't deny their part. Why the wait? Are they waiting for him to suffocate and die?

I was sad when I spoke to a lady at a local law firm and her response was " he is just so old ". Did she know they'd delay this till he dies? Does his age make him disposable?

His claim number is ********** .

If he could afford medical treatment he'd live a quality life without worrying about the expenses. We'd love to see him live a comfortable life until he is a 100 years old at least. You see, to us HE MATTERS!

Good day, I was looking forward to hearing from you this week as promised by your agent. With mass protests last Friday, he said he could not reach anyone from the ODMWA. I heard nothing.
