Daily noise disturbance by RAM Courier van despite repeated complaints

I am deeply frustrated by the ongoing conduct of a RAM Couriers delivery van that comes to a house next door to me every day around 11am. Instead of ringing the doorbell or calling the recipient, the driver insists on repeatedly hooting until someone comes outside — even though the van has two staff, and one of them gets out to deliver or collect the parcel anyway.

This daily hooting is not only inconsiderate but explicitly prohibited under the City of Cape Town Traffic Bylaws, which state that no person may use a vehicle horn except when necessary to prevent an accident. Hooting simply to get someone’s attention, especially in a residential area, is ******** and disruptive to neighbours.

I have reported this issue to RAM Couriers multiple times, and each time I am assured it will be addressed — yet nothing changes. It is disappointing that a national courier company shows so little regard for both community peace and local laws.

I strongly urge RAM Couriers to train its drivers to respect residents, follow proper delivery etiquette, and comply with the CCT bylaws by stopping this daily hooting. It should not take repeated complaints for a company to act responsibly.
