Raceview Motors Shocking Service

Good Day Raceview Motors Alberton,

I purchased a Chevrolet Sonic 2013 with cash on 11 July 2017 from Raceview Motors. I was very content with the purchase as this was my wife’s first car at age 61. However, I realized that there were many issues identified on the day and after taking delivery of the vehicle. Please see below issues detailed below: 11 July 2017

Taking the vehicle on delivery I noticed the radiator coolant bottle contained evidence of oil. The raised this with Leslie Maele, he quickly dismissed the issue and said “new cars have the tendency to do this and therefore the vehicle is fine”.

12 July 2017 The very next day I went back to see Leslie to highlight that the vehicle has smoke coming out the engine bay. He brushed off it off and said “the vehicle belonged to an old man who previously worked for Raceview Motors”. I am not a mechanic, but there is smoke coming from the engine bay it should be raised as a red flag and booked in for a check.

21 July 2017 The smoke in the engine bay continued to persist and the mechanical noise quickly progressed. At this stage I am frustrated with the poor service received and no one taking accountability in your organisation.

14 August 2017 The vehicle was taken back to Leslie of which he then referred me to Jaun Van Rooyen who was to test drive the vehicle. Juan said there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. I then insisted that I was not unhappy as a result of being pushed from pillar to post and my issues were not receiving their desire attention. As a result I took it upon myself to take the vehicle to Bosch Service Centre for full inspections (attached please find detailed report) and the findings on the report alluded to the fact that they were mechanical issues that required urgent attention. Mind you, I have incurred additional expenses unnecessarily whereas the abovementioned issues indented should have been dealt with accordingly by Raceview Motors. Subsequently, I took the vehicle back to Raceview Motors and was advised that the vehicle will be booked in for repairs.

25 August 2017 After two long weeks waiting for my vehicle I received a call to say my vehicle was ready for collection. To my shock and surprised on the day of arrival the vehicle panels and engine parts were sitting in the boot and had not been fully installed. Juan also had mentioned that they are only prepared to address one issue. All the other outstanding issues will have to be repaired in my personal account. I find this to be completely unacceptable as I have complaining about the same issues from early July 2017. Juan also mentioned that the vehicle had been taken to Gateway for a Roadworthy test. I personally drove to Gateway Roadworthy to enquire about the integrity of the vehicle. I then discovered the car had never set foot at Gateway Roadworthy Test but taken to Bateleur Test Station. For me, this raises question marks on the integrity of Raceview Motors as well and their vehicles.

I would like the dealer principle or someone with authority to authorise repairs my vehicle to satisfactory standard as a matter of urgency.
