Horrible service and deposit refunds

If I could I would give this company 0. I’ve rented from them from the unison(4 years)And the ox apartments(3 years). When I left the unison I didn’t receive my deposit. I was transferred to the ox apartments. Rented there for three years. Upon recently leaving I was charged 2500 for cleaning. Which I refuse to pay. There is no cleaning that requires one to pay that amount. The company should be liable for painting units and getting them ready for the next tenant. In the three years that I rented there. No one came to paint the unit. I’ve never defaulted on paying my rent in the total of 7 years renting from them. Given how they treat their tenants. I would advise that no one rents from them. Because you are likely never see your deposit and have additional costs upon exit. This company is greedy and does not respect its tenants. They seem to be money hungry and will do anything to make sure they keep money and get money from tenants. My unit was in impeccable condition. No broken items and well looked after for the years that I’ve rented from them. Today, they are trying to mess up my good credit by reporting me to trans-union . I will be disputing and calling my lawyer to get the matter resolved. I’ve had enough from this company!!!!

Greetings Motlatso,

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns.

We are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with your experience, and we sincerely regret that you feel this way after many years of tenancy with us.

We value all our tenants and do not take lightly the trust you placed in us by renting for a total of seven years.

Please allow us to address the issues you have raised:

• Deposit refunds: We understand your frustration regarding the deposits and charges upon exit. Our process for deposit deductions is guided by the lease agreement and applicable tenancy laws, which allow for reasonable deductions for cleaning, repairs beyond fair wear and tear, and restoring the unit to a rentable condition.
• Cleaning charges: We note your objection to the cleaning charge. The amount reflects the actual cost of professional services required to bring the unit to standard, based on the condition at move-out. And as acknowledged by you when you signed the mov out inspection with the building manager in attendance.
• Painting and maintenance during tenancy: Routine painting and refurbishment between tenants is standard, but it is not guaranteed during an active lease unless necessary. Nonetheless, your point is noted and will be reviewed internally.

We can assure you that it is never our intention to harm our tenants’ credit standing or to act in bad faith. As per our email and WhatsApp correspondence, we are willing to engage constructively with you to resolve this matter as amicably as possible.

We appreciate your years of tenancy and hope we can resolve this matter fairly.

Kind Regards,
The QLiving Team
