Can't cancel Membership

I have been a member of QVC for about 14 years. My Membership is fully paid up and I am now just paying the monthly management fees. I have requested in writing for them to cancel my membership as I have been unemployed since December 2015 and they e-mailed back saying that they cannot unilaterally cancel the agreement!!! Really?? So according to QVC I am stuck with them for life?? They have given me the options of banking a reservation or selling my portfolio but no-one wants it, not even for free! I want to cancel and never have anything to do with them ever again! I have asked my lawyer for advice as I cannot see how someone can be stuck for life!
