Absolute Run-around with PSG Insure

I was involved in a motor vehicle accident on the 16 May 2016. 2 weeks later I was informed when I gave them a call to follow-up on what is going on with my claim, that they were writing the car off and to please send through the Natis documentation etc. which I then hand delivered to the Ruimsig branch on the 1st June 2016. Quentin van Wyngaard signed for them.

When I went back to collect my personal belongings from my car I couldn't understand as to the "why" they were writing the car off.

I then called PSG and spoke to a lady known to be Yvonne Smith. She then informed me that Hollard no longer does Cash-in-lieus. Which I found very strange as I have done a cash-in-lieu with PSG before and called Hollard Insure where to my suprise I was informed that they still do cash-in-lieus's as long as the vehicle is paid up with the bank.

I asked Yvonne Smith to please send it to me in writing that they no longer do cash-in-lieus to which she gave me no answer. I then received a a phone call from Anneli J. reitirating what Yvonne Smith said. I asked her again to please give it to me in writing to which she as well did not answer. I received an e-mail on the same day after asking about the cash-in-lieu that they now are cancelling my cash back bonus. This to me feels very intimidating.

Today is the 20th of July 2016. After being transferred to countless people, vehicle going for numerous tests and still forcing me to write the car off in full I still have not received an AOL. How long must I still wait? Why am I being forced in to something I do not want to do?

PLEASE HELP ME!! I can't deal with this constant run around anymore and I have been without a car since 16 May 2016.

My Claim number is: CL564902

Reviewer Update

To PSG Insure

This is my second and last post to you. Failure in you, (As PSG Insure ) in contacting me personally to deal with this disgraceful service will result in me contacting the Ombudsman to take this further.

I have NOT had any correspondence from you (PSG Insure) since your reply to my review I posted with regard to my concerns.

Your Assesors namely Lindie du Plessis, Yvonne Smit and Annelie have been anything but helpful and are making matters worse. I would like to single out Annelie in particular to the following:

1) From day one rude and utterly difficult to work with.

2) Still waiting for Annelie to give it in writing that PSG Insure no longer does cash-in-lieus. As she is very adament that PSG Insure no longer does.

3) Annelie is an outright, absolute **** stating that the reason they are deducting R16000 from my mothers claim is because of old hail damage on the vehicle stating that my mother informed her about it. Our knowledge to the hail damage dates back to when the vehicle was returned to us from West Rand Panelbeaters (atrocius repairs & service might I add) when it was involved in its first accident. We noted it only much later at the time but decided to leave it as firstly I, (Thane Alaerts) needed the car and secondly it was not at all severe as i had only picked it up and certain angles in the light when it was parked. I am now stating that THE HAIL DAMAGE COULD HAVE ONLY BEEN CAUSED BY THE FIRST ACCIDENT as we bought the vehicle without any hail damage whatsoever. Any hail damage on the vehicle occured while it was insured with PSG Insure.

4) Annelie stated that West Rand Panelbeaters did report that the vehicle had hail damage. Why was this not brought to our attention then? Why did we find out for ourselves? Why was it not put on the quotation? Why am I still waiting for proof? Why were we not contacted there and then by PSG Insure to deal with it then? I'm no expert here but surely if the vehicle as Annelie claims had "old" hail damage that it would have affected its insured value?

5) I don't know how many more times I have to state this to your *********** assessors that on the day of my accident I was caught in a hail storm with very heavy rain! To such an extent that the road I was travelling on was so flooded that I didn't see the curb of the road and drove right in to an open gutter/storm drain. Which might I then add as well that there was water up to the front fenders of the car!!!

6) Due to this claim still in the air since May with no resolve my mother has been forced to purchase another vehicle to replace the Peugeot as it was a run around vehicle.

7) I will at this point no longer deal with another assesor. I will only deal with PSG Insure. Please note that it is close to 3 months since the accident and we will no longer wait.

Regards,

Thane & Anne Alaerts

We thank you for your email and for allowing us the opportunity to address your complaint.

We offer you our sincere apology for your unpleasant experience.

After an in-depth investigation, it was confirmed by the Assessor that the vehicle is indeed a write off. The settlement offer was revised and communicated to yourself.

We hereby confirm that the matter is now finalised.
