P & G - Oral-B

I have bought an Oral-B electric toothbrush, which now has a fault. When i contacted P & G, they simply just said there is no service center in SA and there is nothing they can do. So my question is, why do you sell such pricey goods without any after market service? Or is that just the way P & G makes money, without caring about their customers. I am very disappointed and feel that they should not be selling in a market they are not willing to serve
