Administraion within Psira

I am extremely frustrated with the ongoing delays and lack of accountability from Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority regarding my fingerprint verification process.

I have submitted my fingerprints twice since last year, only for them to be rejected and I was asked to resubmit again. I comp**** and resubmitted over a month ago. However, I was previously informed that the fingerprint verification process typically takes approximately 15 days.

To date, it has now been over a month without any progress or communication. Every time I follow up, I receive the same generic response that my application is “under review,” with no clear timeline or explanation provided.

What is even more concerning is that if I am asked to retake my fingerprints again, it will result in further unnecessary delays, affecting my ability to operate and conduct business effectively.

At this point, it feels like the matter is not being treated with the urgency and professionalism it deserves. I urge PSIRA to address this issue promptly, provide clear feedback, and improve their turnaround times and communication with applicants.

It is deeply concerning that meaningful assistance from Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority often only comes after complaints are escalated on platforms like HelloPeter.
This creates the impression that standard support channels are ineffective, and that clients are forced to resort to public complaints just to receive attention or progress on their applications.
Furthermore, it appears that PSIRA is struggling to keep up with the growing demand within the security industry. The ongoing delays, lack of clear communication, and repeated resubmissions indicate systemic inefficiencies that need urgent attention.
As a regulatory authority, PSIRA plays a critical role in enabling compliance and business operations within the industry. It is therefore essential that their processes are efficient, transparent, and responsive without requiring public escalation.

Good day,
I acknowledge receipt of your message regarding the fingerprint retake.
However, I must express my serious concern that this is now the third request for fingerprint resubmission on the same application (APP-***).
This situation has become extremely frustrating and inconvenient, as I am required to repeatedly travel to the PSIRA office and incur additional costs each time, without achieving a successful outcome. Furthermore, each resubmission results in extended delays of over a month, which is significantly affecting my plans.
I kindly request:
  • A clear and specific reason why my previous submissions were rejected
  • Detailed guidance on what must be done differently to ensure acceptance
  • Confirmation that this matter will be escalated for urgent resolution

At this stage, I believe it is reasonable to request intervention to prevent further unnecessary delays and expenses.
I will comply with the instruction to resubmit; however, I request assurance that this will be the final retake.Your urgent attention to this matter will be highly appreciated.

Kind regards,TshegofatsoM

Hello, we acknowledge your feedback and frustration we do apologize for the inconvenience.  We acknowledge the challenges with regards to fingerprints; hence we are working on the digitization of fingerprints which will reduce turnaround time. The main reason for RETAKES is as follows fingerprints too dark or too light, fingers touching each other, they must be within the demarcated box. Applicant must also complete details on the form and the commissioner of oath must sign. Recent SAPS stamp must be on the fingerprints. Black ink must be used. Another reason is medical and if that is the case we require a Doctor's note.  Fingerprint verification is also not done at PSiRA so fingerprints have to be sent to where the ******** record checks are done so depending on how busy they are oi might take a bit of time for us to get the results.
