Negligence and Mistreatment at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital

I am writing to express my deepest concern and disappointment regarding the subpar treatment my brother, Mthokozisi Gumede, received during his multiple admissions to Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital, specifically in Ward B2.

The hospital's negligence, mistreatment, and lack of empathy from the nursing and medical staff ultimately resulted in my brother's untimely passing.

The issues began on July 1, 2024, when my brother was admitted with severe stomach pain and swelling. Despite conducting blood tests, the doctors failed to diagnose his condition and discharged him on July 5, 2024, with inadequate instructions and treatment.

Subsequent admissions and surgical procedures were botched, leaving my brother's life at risk. The nursing staff in Ward B2 subjected him to verbal abuse and mistreatment, refusing to change his diaper, shouting at him, and expecting him to walk to the toilet despite his fragile condition.

My brother's premature discharge on August 14, 2024, was also concerning, as he showed clear signs of difficulty breathing, inability to walk, and loss of appetite.

Tragically, my brother passed away on August 26, 2024. I firmly believe that if he had received proper care and attention during his hospitalization, he would still be alive today.

To add insult to injury, we have Beenie trying to communicate with the hospital regarding this complaint, but they have been giving us the runaround with no feedback or resolution. We have made numerous phone calls, sent emails, and even visited the hospital in person, but our concerns have been consistently ignored.

I demand answers and a thorough investigation into the events that led to my brother's untimely death. I expect the hospital to take responsibility for the negligence and mistreatment he suffered.

I request a formal response regarding the actions the hospital will take to address these grievances and prevent similar incidents in the future.
