Obnoxious waitress bullies customers to pay bigger tip

Yesterday my boyfriend and I went to Primi Piatti in Sea Point. The food was great, service was okay. All in all a pretty good dining experience. When the bill came I did something my dad taught me to do, round up the bill to reflect a slight tip and give the waiter/waitress the rest of their tip separately (it was his suspicion that companies took a percentage of the staff's tips, whether that's true or not is irrelevant). What ruined the entire evening was the snarky comment made by the waitress, "Was the service really that bad? The tip should be 10%". Instead of giving the cash I had in my pocket I just rounded up the tip to reflect the 10% (which was just an additional R10). This experience has completely put me off from visiting Primi Piatti in the future. Firstly, tips are not compulsory. No one pays me extra for doing my job. Cashiers, doctors, teachers do not force their customers to pay a 10% tip. It was this waitresses attitude that seemed to suggest that she was "entitled" to a larger tip. This really begs the question, is this the type of behaviour customers should expect the next time they visit Primi? And what should happen if a customer is unable to pay a larger tip? Should they be humiliated by a waitress such as this and admit that they can't afford to pay more? We customers owe our waiters/waitresses no explanation for the tips we give them, as they are not doing me any "favour", they get paid to do their job.
