Bitterly Disappointed Experience.

I bought a Go Go Scooter on condition that it suited the terrain I lived in, which is very uneven, as I am disabled and wanted to be able to ride around the Retirement Village. I was advised to buy the Go Go Sport as it would do the job. To cut a long story short it tilted on my driveway and fell on top of me. I broke 2 ribs. I had previously contacted them stating it was unstable and not suitable for the purpose for which it was bought, but to no avail. Once I had fallen I contacted them several times and was eventually sent an email stating it was my incorrect handling of the scooter and it was perfect for the area. They were not prepared to refund or do anything. I was told about the Consumer Protection Act by a friend. I handed it over to the legal experts and within 3 hours of them receiving the email from the Consumer Council, i was offered a settlement. Why does it take a person the trouble of going the legal route for them to do the right thing. I could have held out for a better settlement of which i was entitled, but I decided to cut my losses and part ways with Pride Mobility.

Dear Ms W,

Your review is littered with false statements and selectively undisclosed information. You never contacted us regarding the your concerns about stability or suitability prior to your fall (you also make no mention of this new accusation in any of your communications with us regarding this matter).  You also fail to mention that you had been using the scooter for almost 6 months before you contacted us and AFTER your fall.  You fail to mention that we sent our most senior technician to your home (about 450km's from our offices) and he test drove the scooter in your driveway and in the road where you drove (our onboard camera on the vehicle showed this contrary to your claims to us that he "refused" to drive the scooter).  Despite all this, in the interest of customer satisfaction, we offered to take the scooter back with a usage charge as you had used the scooter for almost 6 months and we could no longer sell it as new.  We sent you this offer on 6 March at 15:07 and the Consumer Council only sent their notice to us on 6 March at 18:46, a few hours after we sent the e-mail to you, not prior as per your statement.
Ms W, the fact that you had an accident months after using the scooter does not validate the claim that the scooter was unsafe, there is also a responsibility of the operator of the scooter.  Similarly if you have a car accident it does not automatically indicate that the car is unsafe.  We had no requirement by law to accept the return of a used (and now damaged) scooter, we did so to assist you, and you have responded to that courteous offer by posting a negative and false review after accepting our gesture of goodwill.

We welcome any form of constructive criticism and where we fall short in our ambitious customer service levels, we acknowledge such and remedy it with the highest level of urgency.  However, such a blatant review of mistruths is disappointing to receive.

We wish you well for the future and consider this matter closed.

The Team and Pride Mobility.
