For your sanity, DO NOT try to do business with this organisation!

After submitting my enquiry on-line for a pool blanket and roll-up station at the Cape Town branch, I received a quote. The stated time for manufacture and delivery was roughly a week. After paying a 60% deposit on 24 October 2016 I was notified a few days later that the Geobubble material had run out and would only become available again at the end of November. This was, perhaps, understandable due to the water restrictions that kicked in in November. I notified her that I would wait.
In mid-November I thought I'd be proactive and send an email to try and try and find out if all was on schedule for delivery at the end of the month. I received the following response: "Many Thanks for your communication with Power Plastic Pool Covers. Please visit our website and you can purchase the cover online" (sic). Uh??
I gave up on email and tried to phone Power Plastics. The line was almost always engaged. If not engaged, most times the phone just rang. Sometimes I got cut off. If I did get through to someone to ask what was happening with my order, they would promise to find out and call me back. The never did. Over the next few weeks I tried several times a week to call them and if I got through to someone it was always someone different. Each time the person I spoke to previously was not available. None of them had the decency to ever call me back as promised. (Are these the tell-tale features of a ****...?)
On 30 November I managed to get through and it was told to me that the material had arrived and that I should be getting a call for the installation the following week. On 14 December I received a call asking if I was available as they wanted to come and install my cover. I told him that I had said previously that I would not be available that week. We then scheduled for the installation to happen on Monday 19 December. No-one showed up. After the now-standard run-around, I was informed on 22 December that the cover was not on their scheduling system and had not been manufactured yet! They indicated that they could, however, manufacture and install in early January.
I requested that my deposit be refunded as there was simply too much risk in accepting yet another "promise" from this company. I was requested to email Accounts to arrange a refund, which I did. We'll see if anything happens...watch this space.

Hi,
We fully understand the frustrations you have experienced and apologise for the inconsistencies in delivery dates, leading to the refund request. We have done our utmost to communicate the delays, either via the website, social media or directly on email or phone. We apologise if we have fallen short on direct one-on-one communication and we are certainly aware that the sheer pressure and knock-on effect of the stricter water restrictions have led to problems with our service delivery.
We try to be as accurate as possible with intended delivery dates but water restrictions resulted in an unpredictable and unprecedented demand and a very anxious market of pool owners.
Please consider too that when new legislation comes into play without any real warning from local government, manufacturers are placed under extreme pressure, even more so when the industry is small. We reacted and scaled up resources as soon as we could but in this manufacturing scenario, we know the end customer does not see or feel that immediately hence your valid frustrations. On our side, all we want to do is to support the City’s water regulations by providing top quality pool cover products. But the scale is enormous.
As per our offline conversations, your order is complete. Again, our apologies that we could not resolve the matter sooner.
Kind regards
