The gentleman running the business was irate that cyclists had placed bikes against his store front.

While I understand some frustration on his part, there are multiple ways of conveying his request. He was rude.

No cyclists were responsible for the building going on in the centre. The whole place is a noisy building site.

Cyclists are also customers. We shop, we send parcels, we run businesses that might use his services. This particular cyclist promises never to visit his store. And no, my bike was nowhere near his shop front.
